Frequently Asked Questions
Whilst we refer to it as an auction, it is in fact a service that allows sellers to solicit offers on a time bound basis. We describe it as being “off market and double blind”. Unlike a standard auction, only vetted users can see cars that are listed.
At the end of the auction period, typically 14 days, the seller will be presented with every unique offer received and their locations globally, allowing them to accept the most convenient offer. Once the seller accepts a bid, the contact details of the buyer are provided, and critically only the seller can make contact, ensuring absolute discretion.
Whilst we expect people to perform on a deal, the offer is non-binding and once the introduction has been made, trade buyers will use their standard procedures to finalise the deal. Retail buyers are welcome to make their own arrangements, or to engage our concierge service to arrange everything from contract drafting to global logistics.

Our terms and conditions describe the conditions of business under which LaSource Auctions and the consignor agree to sell a lot to the buyer. Please review the conditions carefully before bidding. By registering to bid and/or by bidding at auction, you agree to these terms.
Much like buying a car through a broker, your bid is subject to inspection and not legally binding. Buyers are expected to perform on a deal unless the vehicle is not as described by the seller. LaSource Auctions reserve the right to cancel a user registration at our sole discretion.
Once logged in you will be able to submit your bid, as well as be able to see the current high bid.
You may elect to raise your bid at any time while the lot is still open for bidding.
The countdown clock indicates the time remaining on the auction. Bids submitted within the final 5 minutes will cause the auction timer to be extended.
Owing to the nature of the platform, it is not necessary to set a reserve price. Sellers may wish to guide potential buyers as to price expectations and can do so in the advert text.
If you are outbid, you will be notified immediately by email. You will also be notified if an auction that you are bidding on is coming to end within the next 60 minutes. You can also opt into SMS auction notifications.
Once the seller has made contact it is your responsibility to arrange inspection, payment and collection.
If you are selling to a car dealership, they will use their standard processes to complete the purchase.
If you are selling to an individual, we strongly advise engaging an attorney to draft a Sale & Purchase agreement to give you total protection and peace of mind. While we work hard to vet all users, regrettably the car market is a target for scammers and other bad actors.
The LaSource Concierge service is available to assist with contract drafting at additional cost.
Following the successful transaction, you will receive an invoice and payment instructions from our Client Team. Payment is due in full on the first business day following the sale.
All buyers are required to pay taxes and duties unless otherwise exempt. To understand exemptions, please contact a member of our Client Services Team.
Buyers should take careful consideration of the vehicle location ahead of bidding, ensuring they are comfortable with the potentially high costs of global transportation.
Vehicles may not comply with the regulations in your territory and we recommend taking expert advice if you are unsure.
